Performance Bio
Rachel Hurtado Dunbar is a Mezzo-Soprano from El Paso, Texas who enjoys performing the music of Latin America. Rachel is an Associate Instructor of Voice at Indiana University - Jacobs School of Music where she is pursuing a Doctor of Music. She received a Master of Music from The University of Hawai'i at Manoa and a Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Performance from Brigham Young University - Hawai'i. She is a member of the Mae Z. Orvis Opera Studio and has performed with the Hawai'i Opera Theatre in their productions of Eugene Onegin (2017), Romeo et Juliette (2018), and Le Nozze di Figaro (2020). Rachel also recently performed with Maine's Hogfish as Mercedes in their production of Carmen. Recent concert work includes El Amor Brujo with the IU Chamber Orchestra, An Evening of Concertos with the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra, and the UH Wind Ensemble's Cabaret Night. She is currently a student of Dr. Brian Gill
